Gail Steinhagen is a partner in the firm. Gail joined Rosin Steinhagen Mendel as a part-time associate in 1988, and became a partner in the firm in 2004.
Gail primarily oversees the foster care practice of the firm, training new staff members, as well as handling complex litigation. Gail regularly problem solves with foster care clients, while representing parents, foster parents, pre-adoptive parents, and grandparents. In addition, she has represented children in contested custody and matrimonial cases. Gail also frequently provides legal training to our social work clients, and often acts as a legal consultant for new programs initiated by our Agency clients. Gail mentors high school and college students interested in legal careers, and provides internship opportunities at the firm to law students with interest in the practice of family law.
Gail graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a B.A. in history and received a J.D. from Wayne State University School of Law, and is admitted to practice in New York State and the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
Prior to her association with the firm, Gail had a supervisory role at the predecessor agency of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services, where she prosecuted abuse and neglect cases in Family Court.
Gail currently serves on the Adoption/TPR advisory committee to the Supervising Judge of the New York City Family Courts, where she is a member of a subcommittee, and was a member of the Association of New York City Bar Committee on Children and the Law from 2006 to 2008.
